Volvo XC90 petrol mild-hybrid launched at Rs 89.90 lakh, diesels eliminated from India portfolio- Technology News, Firstpost

Volvo Cars India has now launched the Volvo XC90 moderate-hybrid petrol at a price of 89.90 Lac rupees. This launch follows the S90 sedan and XC60 SUV petrol and completes Volvo’s transition to a petrol-only array in the country. The Swedish automaker will now move to a range of mostly electrified products in India over the next five years.

The Volvo XC90 petrol is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine as in the S90 sedan and XC60 SUV, but the outputs were pumped up to the BS6 specification of this engine. This brings in 304hp and 420nm torque, while also adding a moderate 48-volt starter-hybrid generator. The gearbox continues to be the same eight-speed automatic that originated in the Aisin. Air suspension and all-wheel drive are also standard.

You can get the Inscription decorations of the Volvo XC90 with this engine option with black ash dash inlays and two Napa leather options – Amber and Meron. The information and entertainment continues to be a Sensus unit with a wider suite of connected car features and a head-up display. Additional feature additions include a chamber air cleaner with a PM 2.5 filter, 19 Bowers and Wilkins speaker speakers, heated front seats and massages, a four-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch cluster of appliances and laminated windows.

The revamped ADAS package was added to the XC90 with this update. This includes adaptive cruise control, pilot assistance, lane keeping assistance, dead center monitoring with cross-traffic alert, front and rear collision reduction, 360-degree cameras and parking assistance.

The Volvo XC90 competes with SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5 and Range Rover Sport. The three-year service package is offered with the SUV for 75,000 rupees.

Early next year Volvo will launch its first EV for India in the form of the Volvo XC40 Recharge.
